I found an article “The Skeptic’s Guide to the City Chicken” and I became very interested in the chicken coop article. Well this led me to wanting to have chickens again only this time I wanted to follow through with it.
When I got home I looked up the information I found in the article and ended up on Backyardchickens.com. I was looking for a chicken that would be; (1) good in the Mesa heat, (2) friendly and good with children, (3) good layer, (4) a pretty bird, and (5) locally available. Then I came across the article and blog on your Aloha chickens and was very excited about what you had done and the color of the bird.
I have to first build or buy a coop. The breed is of concern for this purchase or build based on the size. I wanted to have for hens and to get them as young as possible but was not interested in hatching unless that is the best option. I have time so if chicks would not be available for a few months that is fine, especially if I choose to build my coop.
I was hoping to see your Aloha’s or the breeder you reference in your blog who is in East Mesa. I live at Apache Manor located on the Northwest corner of Main and Ellsworth. So who ever is closer would be great. I also have no idea what kind of money each chick would cost. Any recommendations on; (1) coups, (2) feed stores, and (3) veterinarians’, would be appreciated.
Thank you for taking time to read my post. You have created an impressive breed.
Doug
Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01763346403942887085noreply@blogger.com
